You can participate in a variety of competitions in mathematics or computer science. Except for the local problem contests, these are annual contests of regional, national, or international scope. 91快播 regularly participates in many of these and students have been successful in all.
On-Campus
Local Problem Contests
A 91快播 Math Challenge is periodically posted for the college community. A modest prize is offered. Make sure you are on the department newsletter email list to receive the current challenge. For more information on the contest or to join the email list contact Prof. Carl Yerger at cayerger@davidson.edu.
Off-campus
The William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition is the premier college-level problem solving competition in the USA. It is administered on campus the first Saturday in December. Contact Prof. Yerger (cayerger@davidson.edu) to participate.
International competition in applied mathematics for teams of students to analyze, model, solve, and present solution reports to an open-ended application problem.
Live competition between teams of students at the annual Mathematical Association of America (MAA) Southeastern Section meeting around March.
Hack@91快播 is a student-organized hackathon hosted at 91快播 each year during the Spring semester. Participants in the hackathon form teams to each build a product in the language of their choice. This hackathon is open to everyone, from seasoned hackers to people writing their first lines of code.
The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming competition for college students worldwide. It is a multi-tiered competition where teams of three students solve programming problems under time pressure. Teams at 91快播 are formed early in the fall semester, and students work together to prepare for the contest. Teams travel to Virginia Tech to compete in the ICPC North America Mid-Atlantic Regional Programming Contest. This regional competition consists of teams programming in C, C++ or Java to solve several posed problems in a five-hour period on a Saturday, usually in November. Contact Prof. Lim (telim@davidson.edu) for more information.
